Seven Hills Review - of peace and war

Spring 2002
placid blue sky
white marshmallow clouds
dance in harmony with
a cool fall breeze
with a swift and might blow
a city is paralyzed
blazing sky, fire engine red
charcoal clouds
strangle with fury
choking
autumn breeze

The pistol's barrel
oozing with smoke
started the race for equality
But
what was untold
was that it was uphill
Society's hate and scourge had formed a hill
a hill
a hill that would with all hope block People from Equality
But coloured Humanity hit the hill with the greatest of speed and zeal
for the splendid prize on the other side
The rocky lower hill of
segregation
Jim Crow laws
and hate
slowed their start
but they kept going
going without violence
but with a voice
a song
a stand for what was verily right
Many battles of words and law have been won
but the hill they climb is not half gone, but
they
us
we
must go forth together
to meet the down hill victory for equality.

September 11th

Black thunderous clouds of sorrow
Engulf a nation of strength
Of unity
The red white and blue
Diffuse through the air
Permeating through the skin of
Every person assimilating them to
America through feelings of sympathy and love
The music made from the screams
Of dying people
The music made from the crying
Of the newly orphaned children
The harmonious discord of the
Melody of laughter life and love
Mixed with fear hate and ignorance
Ignorance
Difference
That's what fuels the fire
Blazing up around our children
The children who have so much
In store
So much ahead
Now they only see dead bodies piled upon bodies
Like the former pillars of New York
The spirit of America
Now lies crushed
Under rubble and ash
Smoke unsettling
Smoke rising and falling
Surrounding the survivors and the dead I say
We capture Osama and make him view the death he has caused
For he represents everything that is ignorant
Osama Bin Laden
Ku Klux Klan
The third Reich
All have three word titles all
Represent stupidity and ignorance
Which rejoices joyously in the pointless
Death of the human race
A person is a person is a color is a religion is a man is a woman is a child is a daughter is
a son is a mother is a father is an executive is a teacher is a priest
Now I'm the preacher
The whole world a congregation
If only we could come to a common
Point of universal understanding
The common man being so uncommon due to his beliefs
Beliefs
Only one word
Yet so many interpretations
What's your addendum?
To the standard principles in
Which one should live should
Practice their beliefs
For beliefs are just as
Universal as understanding
And as I will never
Understand the hate behind
The September 11th attacks
Neither will most Muslims
Nor most Jews
Nor most African Americans
Nor most Caucasians
Nor most human beings
A human being is a white is a black is Spanish is a Chinese is an Arab
An Arab is a terrorist is a man with dark eyes and skin
Damn my point proven within that statement
And if I didn't reverence my knowledge and
Understanding of the common definition of
Love and understanding so high I might
Just believe that
For I used to believe a lot of
Things
Innocence
Humanity
Compassion
Love
I still do believe
You just have to look
Look past the common stereotype
Of uneducated people
Of ignorant people
Ignorance Ignorance
Only education can stop ignorance
Give me time and I will
School you

Icons

The fireman's faces show their love.
Big, strong men hurt beyond belief
their loss unimaginable.
But they understand;
A Calling their dead heard too
They would say it was their job. humbly.
Martyrs
We proclaim Heroes All.
They are bound together, a brotherhood living and dead.
Dealing in danger, called to Service. Resolute.
We see them now, working to exhaustion - Grief anesthetized.
How do we rescue them?

ouroboros

ouroboros-the snake swallowing its own tail
humanity-the monstrous collective that is devouring itself from the ground up
crucified and bastardized lies Christ upon the White House steps
only money graspers left in the once great house
but few're those left that hear him truly
misguided causes only left herein
misguided causes only shoot heroin
what once was pure now is tainted
left to humanity only this arose
the valley's grave made of sludge from mines
the pond suffocated by cement and cars
the forest burnt alive with its self as stake
the stream now choked and drowned
hell on earth? no only home
