Seven Hills Review - meet the editors

Spring 2002
The Teen Editors are the driving force behind the Seven Hills Review. Not only do our Editors submit their own creative work, they also select the poems and categories for each edition, type in entries, write their bios and editorials and spend a few hours each month at the Main Library working on the ezine. For information on how to become a member of the Seven Hills Review Editorial Board, please contact Paula Brehm-Heeger.

Lynn

All of you have seen me at some point: driving by a decorative house, looking around a garden store or watching Amelie. I am a traveling lawn gnome. When I'm not staring in French films, or decorating lawns, I patronize the junior class at Ursuline Academy as a literary geek who isn't afraid to admit it. I spend an inordinate amount of time writing and reading. Gnomes don't often have much chance for social interaction so I have to find something to do for hours. I'm also a movie fiend and frequent movie theaters especially action, fantasy, and yes, even those sappy romance series warm this gnome's heart. So look for me next time you're out. I'm the small fellow with a pointy red hat, green shirt and blue Bermuda shorts. Or to some I look like midget Santa on vacation, I stand out in crowds, especially when trying to explain to airlines why a gnome deserves to fly free to Ireland in the overhead compartment.

David

Hi, I'm David and I have a substance abuse problem. But through the help of my wonderful friends and family I have kicked the habit for 47 days. 47 days ago to this day was the last time I played a game of Tri-Peaks. I'm a senior at Walnut Hills High School who loves to bicker with feminist writers and who bakes brownies that are better than sex. The loves of my life are Mario and Arthur Miller; they are my "one true thing". (Gotta have a bad cliché.) All my friends call me Holden Caulfield even though I swear I'm nothing like him. And the best quote of all time is from Lord of the Flies.
"Sucks to your assmar. Sucks to your auntie."
The best little kid taunt of all time.

Miko

i'm a junkie strung out on creativity, engaging in an endless cycle of needle kissing vein and pumping art into my bloodstream. i'm a wanderer in a box, a mime with a voice, aspiring to be jesus but falling short at the halo. if i could just synthesize it all, meld the details of my identity and my existence into something nice and neat to serve as an offering...at fifteen i suppose there is little to require, little required of me. so here's what you need to know: i attend the Schilling School. i like pie.

Dana

I am Dana. I am a normal person in a strange world, but normal is relative, so who's counting? I live for Twizzlers and a good concert. My hair color of choice is pink. My shoe color of choice is pink. My clothing color of choice is pink. I like pink more than one normal person should. I like to play guitar. I like friends. I like music. "If you listen very hard, the tune will come to you at last. When all is one and one is all, to be a rock and not to roll." I was born fourscore and 17 years ago. I go to Mariemont High School. Life is at its greatest when I frolic in a grassy field with flowers in my hair.

Kimberly

A little bit about myself is that I am 17 and a Junior at Oak Hills High School. I have lived in Cincinnati, Ohio since I was three years old. I enjoy playing soccer, basketball, writing poetry, and hanging out with my friends. Some of my more recent poetry has been written about the death of my father, which was this past July. I have a wonderful boyfriend named Dave, and a sister named Jennifer. I am a caring person and always put other peoples feelings ahead of mine. And I just try to make the best out of what life hands me.

Emily

I'm a ninth-grader at St. Ursula Academy. This is my first year on the 7 Hills Review. I play guitar, soccer, and I skateboard (but apparently not very well).

Kristin

Hi, my name is Kristin! I am currently a sophomore at Turpin High School, and I play several different instruments in the band there. I am a first year member of the Cincinnati Library Teen Editorial Board. I am an absolute nature freak! I love being outside and going hiking, camping, all the good stuff. Over the years I have gathered a menagerie of pet ladybugs in my room, god knows how many times I've asked them to leave! Some people tell me that I look like Meg Ryan with longer, curlier hair, but then there are those few who think I look like Margaret from Dennis the Menace, but I won't get into that....

Elysen

I'm in love with sunny mornings, sleeping in, staying up late, parks in the middle of nowhere, cherry Danishes, smiley friends, the word intoxication, and a tall boy who rows. Plato once said "At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet." So I guess I'm in love with writing too. I'm Elyse and I'm in love with being Seventeen.
