The library has dedicated almost 8,000 square feet of space designed to meet the needs of today’s teens. The space was designed with the assistance of architects, planners, library staff and area teens, making it a one-of-a-kind destination within the library and the city. The TeenSpot features two study rooms, a vending area with restaurant booths, an eight-foot movie screen for anime and gaming, a lounge area for reading and hanging out, and a magnetic poetry board for releasing creative energy. There are also twenty-four computers, complete with the Internet and programs like Microsoft Office suite and iTunes. The TeenSpot collection includes a large selection of manga and graphic novels, as well as fiction, nonfiction, biographies and books on CD. The TeenSpot is open during the Main Library’s hours of operation: Monday – Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m., Thursday – Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and Sunday, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
