Animal Farm

by George Orwell
Category: fantasy
A group animals rebel against their farmer, set up their own form of government, which becomes corrupted when the pigs, who are considered the smartest, start changing the rules for their own benefit.
This is a book that should be on all reading lists. It is an example of how people can be used when they don't closely watch the actions of their leaders. In the book, the other animals are 'dumb' because not many of them can read as well as the pigs. It is somewhat laughable when the pigs are caught red-handed in their adjustments of the laws, but the animals either don't realize it, or are coerced into believing that they're wrong to begin with. This book has been described as a mirror to Communist Russia, but I think Orwell was sending out a large, stronger message then not allowing Communism to take a foot hold in ones country. I think he was saying: "Citizens, WATCH YOUR LEADERS! STAY INVOLVED!!"

This book is based on Russian History. It's about a bunch of farm animals that take over the farm they live at because their owner, Mr. Jones doesn't treat them very well. They have commandments they follow like: four legs good, two legs bad, no animal must eat another animal, etc.
I thought it was just okay.
