Growing up as the daughter of a pastor, Samara “Sam” Taylor has always relied on her faith in God to get her through difficult times. But now, all of a sudden, Sam’s life has started falling apart in a major way. Her mom has ended up in rehab after a DUI, and her dad seems more interested in helping his congregation deal with their lives than he is in facing what his own family is going through. With her faith already shaken, she then learns that a local girl has been kidnapped. Sam wonders if God has abandoned all of them. She used to believe in miracles, will it take a miracle for Sam to feel God’s presence in her life again? This novel is a great combination of stealthily building suspense and a thoughtful character study.
