Besides being the town founder’s son, Candor, Florida teen Oscar Banks is student body president, earns Straight A’s, and is in demand on the social scene. Oscar is currently more occupied with the family business, though. His father runs a secret business where parents who can’t control their free-thinking teens have subliminal messages delivered to them through mind-controlling music, thus changing the teens into compliant, “perfect” people. Oscar has a secret of his own, however; he’s been sabotaging the business by imparting his own messages, getting teens out before they’ve been turned. Oscar’s plan starts to go awry when he meets Nia, a girl he can’t stand to see changed, but whom he doesn’t want to lose to the outside world, either. Can Oscar find a way to save Nia, and save their relationship? Just like the town’s music, this sci-fi thriller pulls you right in.
